Public library of macros and freelancer marketplace

Post by DraBS »

Public libraries of user-created scripts and freelancer marketplaces are a natural component of the environment around any successful platform. Robotask is a remarkable product, yet it hasn't achieved the popularity it deserves. I think that's partly because it hasn't publicly showcased the utilities created by its users.

Just imagine a public library of utilities arranged by category, with brief explanations what they do, with tags and with short videos demonstrating their purposes, visible to Google. People would learn that they can, not only have this or that tool, but that they could also modify it any way they like to suit their individual needs. That is, a lot of people would learn what a macro editor is on the first place. Secondly, they'd be able to compare the cost of a single commercial solution to that of the cost of one tool with versatile applications.

As far as I can remember, I first tried Robotask when I had been looking for a backup solution. None of the dedicated backup solutions served my needs. I realized I need a tool let me customize my backup process but I was not aware of macro editors at that time. With a lot of effort and hassle, and time spent I somehow stumbled upon Robotask. Now I wish the very concept of macro editors was more popular.

And as far as a developer marketplace is concerned, of course, Robotask community is not the size of any big software brand, but even with few developers available to hire, it'd reassure newcomers that this solution is realisable because there are options to have your job done even if you cannot do it yourself. There's no need to invest in building such marketplace from scratch, you can just partner with any of the popular freelance platforms.
