Just as you can start a task on a certain date can you build in the program the ability to end it on a certain date, end a program + others.

You can close any program if you close its main window. There is "Window command" action for this purpose. This way is normal way to close any application. Also you can send keystroke Alt-F4 to main window of the program.

Some  programs don't close by closing their main window. Usually
they are programs that also have a tray icon and you are supposed to
close them through their tray icon by some sort of exit button (e.g.
Flashget, ClipCache etc.). Closing their window just minimizes them
to the tray icon.
I faced this problem when I tried to make Robotask restart a program
like that and I realized there is no way to make it close the program
automatically. The program was "Hardware sensors monitor".
Anyway, I hope future versions of Robotask will take care of this problem.

Each user application have a main window, but it can be hidden.
Try to seek main window of your application in hidden windows.

Thanks for the info. Actually the  problem  with "Hardware
Sensors Monitor" was that it had an option  to "minimize instead
of close" when closing its main window that had to be unchecked in
order for Robotask  to be able to close it. So I unchecked it and
everything works fine now. That, however, is not the case with
applications that have a similar option like Flashget or even Robotask
itself (you don't have to unselect this option with those).

In this case you must use menu File | Exit by sending keystrokes. Or send a key combination to main window.
For RoboTask (for example) it is Ctrl-X. This combination closes the main window and the application.

We shall add "terminate process" in future, but it is not a normal way to close applications.
