True file Synchronization?

Post by Osm3um »

I am curious if there is anyway to get a true file synchronization process to function?

Currently, I believe, there is no way for robotask to recognize a file
deletion.  True?  So if I delete a file on one location it
will get copied back correct?

Maybe I could use Robotask to launch a program like "goodsync"?

Thanks,
Bob

I not understand what is "true file synchronization"?
There is "Synchronize folders" action ("Files and Folders" group). It can work in two modes: bidirectional and unidirectional.
If you want to get an exact copy of your folder (i.e. update newest files and remove absent files in target folder) you need to choose unidirectional mode and turn on "Exact copy in Folder2" option.
But, may be, you mean something another?

True file Synchronization?

What I mean is, from what I understand, robotask can not determine if a file has been deleted.  So if I have:

c:\directory\ sync with a USB key drive E:\, and I delete Filename.doc
off of drive E:, won't robotask then copy the deleted file back to
drive e:?  Instead of deleting the it from drive c:?

I am hoping to do something like can be found at
http://www.goodsync.com/.  OR can I somehow get robotask to drive
Goodsync for me?

What I am trying to accomplish is keep a local directory perfectly
synced with a USB key, regardless of whether files were add/deleted on
the USB key (while on another computer) and/or files were added/deleted
on the computer.  Does that help?

Thanks,
Bob

May be, you need to synchronize e:\ => c:\directory\ (instead of c:\directory\ =>e:\) with exact copy. I.e. to interchange folders each other.
